Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives is a 2010 Thai drama film that explores themes of reincarnation. The film centers on the last days in the life of its title character, Uncle Boonmee, played by Thanapat Saisaymar. Uncle Boonmee, together with his loved ones, including the spirit of his dead wife and his lost son in a non-human form, contemplates the reasons for his illness and explores his past lives. The film was written, produced, and directed by Apichatpong Weerasethakul and was inspired by the book A Man Who Can Recall His Past Lives by Buddhist abbot Phra Sripariya.
