Fushigi Yûgi: Genbu Kaiden is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Yuu Watase. It serves as a prequel to Watase's previous work, Fushigi Yûgi, and focuses on the creation of The Universe of the Four Gods and the story of the Priestess of Genbu. The manga was serialized in various magazines, including Shōjo Comic Zōkan, Perfect World Fushigi Yûgi, Rinka, and Zōkan Flowers, and was collected in twelve tankōbon volumes. It has been licensed for an English-language release by Viz Media. Additionally, the series inspired audio drama CDs and a video game. Despite receiving positive reviews, some critics felt that it lacked the humor and welcoming atmosphere of the original Fushigi Yûgi series.
